Talend was founded in 2005 in Suresnes, France and grew internationally with substantial open-source community adoption of Talend Open Studio, the free open-source edition of the platform. The commercial business (Talend Data Fabric, Talend Cloud) extended the open-source core with enterprise features around data quality, data governance, scheduling, monitoring and managed cloud operations. Talend was acquired by Thoma Bravo in 2021 and then merged with Qlik (also owned by Thoma Bravo) in 2023 to form a combined data-and-analytics platform business. For pure ERP-to-ERP transactional integration Talend is less appropriate than dedicated iPaaS platforms (Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato).
