Which associations are relevant to ERP in the DACH region?

The most relevant are the SAP, Oracle and Microsoft user groups (DSAG, DOAG, Dynamics User Group, abas EUG), the digital-industry associations with an ERP connection (Bitkom with its own ERP working group, BITMi, VDMA), the standards bodies (GS1, AUSTRIAPRO) and the ERP-related research institutes (FIR RWTH Aachen, Fraunhofer IML). For Austria and Switzerland there are dedicated bodies (WKO Fachverband UBIT, Swico). We transparently label the type and neutrality of each organisation.

Are these neutral associations or vendor-adjacent?

It varies, and we label it transparently. User groups like DSAG are independently run but focused on a single vendor (e.g. SAP). Digital-industry associations like Bitkom are industry bodies whose members are also the ERP vendors – so their position is an industry view, not a pure user perspective. Neutral in the narrower sense are above all the research institutes and standards bodies.

How did we select and verify the associations?

We researched associations, user groups, standards bodies and research institutes in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and verified each organisation individually: does it exist, is it active, and how strong is the ERP connection. We look for a recognisable connection to ERP and enterprise software. The international ERP associations are on a separate page.
